what's up? my first post :) ya...
I was wondering if someone could id a couple things...
First i came home turned on the lights, to see these sticking up outa the sand, w/ in a few minutes they sunk back under the sand. http://www.damarcman.com/images/img1.jpg
the 2nd is of something that lives in one of my rocks, it has like 50 little tenticals that streatch out like 6 inches, and are very tiny, they move along the rock and grab stuff to eat. then the slide back inside where the thing eats it. then everynow and then it has a fatter worm like thing that sticks out and spews it's crap into the water...

Aiptasia.... Peppermint Shrimp, Copperbanded Butterfly, and Inject with Kalk Mix, will get rid of them. Keep nutrients low in water so they can't get fat and happy...lol

i had some Aiptasia.... but i did add a pep shrimp, he seems useless, i also used joes juice which i did get all aiptasia that i saw on the rocks, even got the last 2 yesterday... these must be of a different species i guess, they stuck out of the sand, about 6-10 of them in one area, and sunk back in when lights came on... never saw them before today. any idea of the 2nd pic?

I never had Aiptasia problems until I added my Coral Prop tank. I used some live sand, and in a couple of weeks I had hundreds of of them...
Not sure about the second picture....
With any "cure" sometimes you just have to wait it out...Peppermint Shrimp and Copperbands don't necessarily go after it right away... it might be a couple weeks before you notice that all of a sudden they are gone.... Lime works too, but it is a pain to inject them... and, you can only get the ones you can see that way....
I think patience is the key with Peppermint Shrimp and Copperbands

They can live anywhere, they move. Mine started like that too, before long they were everywhere..

I'm not comvinced those are aiptasia, though I dont know what else they would be. The tenticled thing is a vermatid snail. They are harmless.

do not get a CBB unless you just want one...it likely wont eat aiptasia...but yes that is aiptasia....peppermint shrimp yes

I must have gotten very lucky with my Copperband, she decimated the Aiptasia that came in with the live sand in my Coral Prop tank...

On my way to home depot, cause my Octopus Recirc Needlewheel 110 just got here... i'm giving it a vinager bath right now, gotta get some plumbing... Will do a nice write up for it once installed...

The second image shows the feeding tentacles of a terebellid polychaete worm. A harmless detritivore as you've already noticed.
