So a few days ago i purchased some montipora frags on ebay, they were a superman, rainbow, hispada, setosa, and purple grimace. The setosa and purple grimace are fairly bright colored, but the other three are not at all. I was wondering what the best lighting is to bring out the good colors in these differnet montipora's. They are actually in different tanks, the superman is in a tank with 60 W power compact lighting on a 10 gallon tank, and it looks like this.

And the hispada and rainbow are in another tank that is a 92 gallon corner tank with 175W metal halide 10k, and 2 96 power compacts one a 10k and the other a blue actinic. and the hispada and rainbow look like this.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the type of lighting, but i figure that their in different tanks, and yet all three are very dull. Is it the type of lights, or are small frags not that bright in color, or is it just these frags are not that bright in color. Any suggestions or comments please?

Corals, especially SPS, can often dull in color or turn brown after going through the stress of shipping, but often regain their color after they adjust.

If they don't change any in the following weeks, then something else might be the cause.

thanks. In your opinion is the lighting that are on the monti's sufficent. I know ive seen alot of people talk about 14K and 20K lights instead of 10.
