hi roger
i have a 7180 and when i took it out of the tank i caught the cable just as it comes out of the moter head on the glass cross
brace and have taken a slice of black cable of exposing the four wires that go into the motor head
can somthing be done or is this a no go

If it were me, I would use it in a non critical application and I would do the following-

Get a pin extractor tool and remove the pins from the molex connector in the pump.

Run a shrink wrap down the wires and shrink wrap it. Reconnect the molex.

Run the pump so the wires are above the water surface, the top of the pump just above the water line.

It might be worth putting some liquid electrical tape on before the shrink wrap.

The problem is water can channel down the outer insulation into the motor and cause a short- no major hazard as it is low voltage and worst case you fry the pump and driver and transformer.
