If you want to keeep an eel with other fish you might want to look into engineer gobys. I love eels and I found this to be a great substitute in my tank. IME it acts kind of
eel-like too; It kind of hangs around with some of its body poking out of the rock and just looks around. It's a very cool fish, but digs a lot.

I have a snowflake in a community reef and he doesnt bother anyone. He does kinda open his mouth when the chalkbass swims by like he is testing if the chalkbass will fit yet!! i really think the chalkbass' days are numbered though.

I have kept a zebra moray in the past with no problems. It did not bother any of the other inhabitants, not even the cleaner shrimp. It would open it's mouth and let the shrimp clean it's mouth. It would from time to time knock over a coral or two when moving around. Zebras don't have the best eye sight, so they are alittle clumsy when moving around sometimes.

I haven't tried an Imperator, but I took my Majestic out of the FO and put her in the 240 reef when I first set it up because I thought she would be such a cool centerpiece. Well, within hours, my zoas were all closed and my mushrooms had nips in them. I switched her back the next day and never really got to see what kind of damage she could do, but it wasn't going to be good. I had been worried about my LPS, but she didn't go near my open brain (about 8" across) or hammers, etc. She stayed away from my SPS too. I have heard of success in SPS dominated tanks and that is about it. HTH

I have a white ghost eel in my reef with no problems aswell. The only thing I have not been able to keep are small bottom dwellers since thats what it eats in the wild. Other then that has never bothered a shirmp or coral! And it stays under 2'!

I've had a snowflake before, twice actually. With the first one, I did have some fish disappear. With the second, it never bothered a single fish, hermit crabs, corals, or even an emeral crab. In my experience, they can be kept with coral banded shrimp.

Yeah i have one too, they called it an eel goby (wonder why?) he's about 6 inches now and does like to dig alot, but he looks and acts like an eel but reef safe
