I recently fed my tank with a mix of food including mashed garlic, unfortunately I didn't mash it well enough and there was a large chunk that didn't get eaten, it's just sitting in a spot that I can't really get to because of the rockwork, will this be a problem? Will this spike nitrates dramatically and will it eventually get eaten or dissolve and get pulledby the skimmer?

What do you think/?

Thanks,
Adam

Why are you putting garlic in your tank? Do fish on the reefs eat garlic?

Don't know what the link is for but there is no proof or scientific evidence or fact that garlic is any good for curing ich or boosting the immune systems of fish. No studies at all.

I wouldn't worry about it. Garlic is used to dip alot of fish food in to make it more appetizing for the fish.

Depending on how big the chuck og garlic is it will rot, stink and cause a rise in your nitrates. I have had it happen to me. And as far as scientific proof goes... Personal experience is good enough for me. My PBT had terrible ich and within 2 days of putting a clove of garlick in the sump it was gone. Mt fish also eat much more aggressivly when I feed with garlic.

garlic does seem to really entice fish to eat.
