I picked up a (excuse the spelling) Vaglimi Tang from Les at Fishy, Inc. I don't have my Burgess book handy. He's about 7-8 inches, and eats like an animal!!!!!!:eek1:
The Yellow Tangs are a little awstruck , but everybody is getting along,(LIKE THEY HAVE A CHOICE, THIS NEW GUY IS HUGE!!!)
Here is a pick.

he is gorgeous!
also, i hate to be a poophead about space(as i love tangs), but that tang is already a little big for a 4 foot tank. and when it's fully grown, it's gonna need a tank 4x as big as yours. just so you know.

Yes I know they get big, it will be an excuse to go to a bigger tank in the future,(use him as leverage to get through the wife, road block)
I'm not getting any more big fish, just small reef fish. I had to pick him up as soon as I saw him, he's thick as a brick.
Thanks, everybody!!

Thanks Paintbug, for the link. Now that my wife has just revived me with some smelling salts, I will not be buying any large fish just small reef stuff, and going with a new large tank in the future.
The link showed the beautiful coloration of an adult Vlamingi.
I couldn't pass up this fish!!!!!!!

Why does everyone always have to be aquarium police? If he has good intentions and takes good care of his aquatic life what does it really matter? We all eat fish and cows and chickens but get ****ed if saltwater fish are in a house a little to small! Just my $0.2

Matty0206, it's ok everybody is welcome with their advice and opinions, I have a huge skimmer on this system, so with the carbon and the skimmer and the 5 gallon a week water changes everything will be fine. Here is my skimmer, it's 4ft 11 inches counter current does 400 gph.

With a nano, you don't really have alot of room for alot of fish. I usually see some with gobies, mandarins, basslets, turbo snails, couple of cleaner shrimps. Corals would be mostly zoo's,mushrooms, small acro frags, so depending on your setup, you could have a nano with a small sump. Then my skimmer design would work. The design works best using the 4 inch diameter pvc, any smaller in diameter and you really have to slow down the water flow. So if you have a sump you can make a 24 inch high version, 4 inch diameter pvc and put 250 gph through it. A unit that size would keep your nano real clean. Biological will be handled by the live rock, I would use carbon, and phos-ban along with the skimmer.
Or their is a new production skimmer called the Fission Skimmer, that was made for nano tanks.

I wouldn't call it aquarium police, but maybe good advice? I never said that he was stupid for doing it i just said it would be very wise to greatly increase his tank size for the health of this awsome fish he has on his hands.. If you never seen these fish full grown then i can understand how you might think its ok to keep in a 120 at 8inches even. Thats why people post here for the pro's and the con's. If he couldn't take it im sure he wouldnt of posted it... I eat cows but if i were to keep a cow i wouldnt just throw it my backyard. Only a open farm would be suitable.
But anyway that is one awsome skimmer any more pics of it?

Great looking vlamingi. I have one about the same size in my 215g but I'm worried that he's going to outgrow it soon.
For some reason, all of the LFS's here in LA started selling Vlamingi's.. and cheap too. (around $29 for a "small" one)
But yes that's an awesome fish!!!!
I doubt they will grow to 2 ft in captivity...more like 10" max
