I'm looking for a good calcium suppliment. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but pointing me to a good faq would be very much appreciated.

If you can find the ingredients, here is a good homemade recipe.

Otherwise, Kent's Turbo Calcium, Seachems Reef Complete and ESV's Calcium are pretty good choices.

I use b-ionic 2 part for the daily dosing and Sea Chem Marine Buffer to maintain ph. I have found using the b-ionic is easier and more reliable than trying to make my own.

its also 10x as expencive, after 5 years i decided that b-ionic is in fact a big rip off

randys 2 parts does ecactly the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

how hard can it be to bake baking soda for 1 hour at 350f and mix a few tsp in ro/di water

how hard is it to mix a few tsp of dowflakes in a glass of ro/di water

The only commercial brand I've used is B-ionic, and it is a seemingly fine product, but as far as I know, none of the commercial products have been analyzed for purity.

I use the b-ionic because it is easier to use - I admit. As a relative newcomer to the reef world (less than 1 year), I am just nervous about goofing something up by doing it myself - at least until I have a little more experience. To each his own.

Randy has done a lot to help me out. My comfort level will increase as I move on.

Thanks for the heads up everybody. On reviewing the DIY recipe, I'm going to wait on that one. Being in japan, a lot of things just are not available :(.
