Is this a sea spider? It looks like one and came hitchhiking with some zoa's. Let me know what you think. What should I do with it if it is one?

It is indeed a sea spider and it looks like the zoa eating variety. You are lucky you found it. I would be on the lookout for more.

What should I do with it??? Flush the little guy? Do you know how big they get? It would be cool to keep him around if it were to grow bigger.

IIRC, they don't get very large at all. If you don't feed it zoas it will probably die (I don't know how specific their diet is.) I would just flush it.

Yep, zoanthid eating spider. Here was one of mine.

They don't get large and unless you hate your zoanthids they are not to be kept around.

I just fed mine freeze dried bloodworms and he grabbed one and started eating it. It's so small maybe I'll keep it around and keep feeding it and see how much it grows.

I doubt it will grow any bigger than what it already is. This is not something you want in your tank.

It's a pycnogonid

The one Amy pictured is the best pic I have seen of one

For me its hard to tell if yours are this

or this

Either way I wouldn't trust it . There are 2 types a zoa eater and aptasia eater.

I don't plan on keeping it in my display, I'm just gonna leave it in a seperate tank if I do.

Hahah! :D

Amy, reef critter profiler! Watch out, you don't know who she'll pull over or name next.

mdisalvo55 - I've always thought they were obligatory feeders on zonathids and only that. Perhaps Dr. Ron knows knows, he did write about them in an issue of Reefkeeping. You might want to look that up to be sure.

dude... I'd flush him. You wouldn't want that thing to grow up like this, then jump on your face when you're aquascaping..

Yikes, it looks like I'm gonna flush him tonight, no reason to keep him really.
