I was going to get some jawfish for my nano when i read that either they tear each other a part or they are passive either way i felt it necessary that if i was to try a pair of them i'd have to move them to a larger tank which is my 75 gallon reef. I was wondering if anyone has had success breeding jawfish and could offer some advice. I'm doing my research but it always helps to havce another source.
Also i think i should incresase my sand bed which is about 1-1.5 inches deep. How deep should i make the sand bed? (i will remove all rockwork/corals and move them temporarily to my quarentine tank/Fuge while the sand settles.
Thanks for your time

you need at least a 4" deep bed for a happy jawfish, some people even go more than that 6" would be even better. I had a jawfish for a while (that died) and he stayed in the deepest area of the tank (sandwise). No experience breeding them. They also don't live long in captivity, I think 3 yrs is a max.

good luck
