i just make a custom hood and made a stupid mistake. the hood is 8" high and was suppost to be 9" from the surface of the water but i didn't take into account that the bulb would hang lower than the top of the hood. With the 175w retro the bulb will sit about 6.5" inches from the top of the water. will this be a problem with water splashing the bulb? i plan on running a small fan in the hood but i would image it will raise my temp quite a bit having the bulb that close.
i was thinking of putting a glass top over the area right beneath the bulb. OR putting some wood spacers on the bottom of the hood to raise it but this is going to leave an ugly gap. any ideas on what i can do?
