View Full Version : Right distance for T5s from tank?

I just got my T5s installed into my Oceanic canopy. They are about 4 inches or so from the glass covers......

Yesterday, Day 2, the water temp shot up to 90. Now it was hot outside, and I have a fan in the canopy, but I think I have to either build a new bottom to the canopy a couple of inches higher or put openings on either end of the canopy to blow that air out.

Any opinions? Thx.

Ditch the glass covers. More light, less trapped heat.

I run mine about 4 inches off the water and they haven't changed that water temp at all. Get rid of the glass top, and vent the ends of your canopy.

Mine are 2" above tank, 4" above water but I run a fan and the tank is open.
