Hey,
I have some questions that I need to get some fast anwers before I go ahead with this tomorrow.

I have a 24g aquapod with 70w HQI MH

Pictures with a FTS:

Anyway, the tank is 6months old now and Ive had some issues with my 70w burning brown. So my LFS dude offered to send the fixture back and I can upgrade to the 150w for hardly anything.

My question is, for a week, I have to use the stock PC lighting that came with my pod. 64watts.

How much stress is this going to put on my coral and clam?

Also what about when I set up the 150w mh? Am I going to blast the heck out of everything after it's been under pc's for a week?

Is my clam going to suffer under pc lighting for a week? I could take it up to my LFS and leave it there for the week. Its only 2inches.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it, I dont want to stress my tank, but this really is an awesome deal.

Suggestions?

Linn

My friend did something similar recently on his aquapod.
Your tank will be fine with PC's while waiting.
You should use screen to shade your corals until they acclimate to new light.
You may need to lower some of your corals if light is too intense for them.
My friends tank was so much better with the 150w

I think I'll take the clam to hang out for a week at the LFS, as long as they dont sell it lol.

I wouldn't.
Leave stuff alone when you can.
Some people have shutt off all lights for 3 days or so to rid HA or cyano.
One week is no big deal.
Your clam has a greater chance of stress or disease or something at your LFS.

just curious discdogge, is the picture you have your 24 gallon and a tang in it? just wondering because I have had some replies saying a tang in my 46 gallon isnt a good idea, and if yours is doing fine then they should do ok.

I was wondering the same thing.

He may look all small and cute now, but in not a very long time he will be bigger MUCH too big for a 45 and I would not like to imagine for a 24 I have 2 small tangs about 6" and these are babies compared to thier potential size of 12 - 14"

Really guys, you would even consider putting a tang in a nano???

It's photoshopped.

I wouldn't put a tang in anything smaller than a 75 and that would be have to be a small tang that would be moved to a much larger tank.

No, I think my fixture was just having problems, we replaced the bulb twice and occasionally it would burn brown.

My LFS is sending it back and offered to let me upgrade to the 150w for just a little more. I figured might as well.

I DO rec the 70w over pc's for sure, it looks a million times better. I bought my pod with pc's then decided to get the HQI so I could run a remora skimmer on the back.

BTW, I like the aquapod better than the JBJ and new Bio cubes.

The bio cubes are acrylic which for me is just a bad bad idea LOL, but I have kids.
I just cant stand the thought of scratches.
