looks like a sponge growing there.

not a sponge, its hard bodied. Has a little tube coming out of the top.

looks like some type of tube worm, possibly a vermetid snail. hard to tell from the pic. nothing to worry about either way.

yeah, i think it is some kind of worm. Who knows, maybe I can get a better camera someday.
