I want to buy a large Snowflake Eel. However, I do not want to feed him live food. When I say large I mean adult, or at least 17". I will probably order the Eel, and this will probably mean that he has not begun to eat prepared food yet. I want to be sure that the place that I order from is not giving me bullsh*t information, so I'd like to know what you think about bringing in a large Snowflake Eel, and putting him right on prepared food. He would be with fish who already eat prepared food. Any comments?

When i ordered my zebra from exoticfish.com he was about 24" and ate frozen food right away. i used fresh shrimp soaked in garlic xtream he ate the next day. where are you planning on ordering the sfe from? If the eel dont eat right away that is not uncommin.

The prepared food that Iuse to feed all of my fish has garlic in it too. It consists of salmon, whitefish, scallops, tuna, shrimp, peas, and garlic. I need to buy a new tank before i can buy the Eel, and that might be on hold as the one that I want costs $250-$290. I want a tank that is 72"X24"X12" tall. So it would be a custom job.

Thanks. I called, and they said that it only applies to tanks up to 55 gallons.

Yeah, I didn't know that about the tank sizes. My bad on the false info.

To bad your not in Northern Cal. there a LFS that has a 24"(SFE) about maybe just a little smaller, but not much for sale for I think $60-$70.
