Does anyone use a Mag Drive Pump? I am thinking about purchasing a Mag Drive 950 for a 65 gallon tank and I am concerned about it being too loud. Perhaps there is another pump I should consider. Love to hear from folks about what they use and how they feel about it. Thanks for your time.

I Love my mag pumps. I have a mag 7 for return and feeding my skimmer. Very quiet pumps.

Mag9 is a decent pump, but needs large diameter pluming to get good flow, which is a real pain to work with. I also think it is too big for that size tank. Eheim pumps are super quiet, and dont need large plumbing to get good flow. Depending on the sump size, Id say an Eheim 1250 or 1260. If you want a mag, I'd use a Mag5 or 7. The Mag7s tend to be very loud though.

I like them too. Never had any trouble out of them, A mag 9 is a pretty stout pump for a 65 (assuming that you are using it as a return pump )

Thanks for the feedback. The pump will be used a return pump. I am considering using the Berlin Sump that I believe is 14 gallons. I will check into the Eheims.

I agree that the 9.5 is a little large, but if you loclined it with a Y on the end you really wouldnt have much need for powerheads then. Also I can hardly hear my pumps and like I said I am running 2 mag 7s
