I'm running them and I love them! I was running XM 10,000K's and they had great PAR but no blue tint, only white. These Iwasaki's have just a touch of blue and I see my corals just starting to get a little nicer color. Between the color and even more PAR than the XM's I'm psyched. It was like upgrading my lights to 250's without the extra electric bill or upgrade costs.

DrBDC-are you running electronic ballasts?

I'm running three on mag ballasts and the color is a similar blue on two, but the output is different. The third color is whiter and and brighter. Thinking about upgrading to electronic ballasts for better output, I read they run better on electronics.

Upgraded from XM 10k also, Aqua2 are better quality-IMO.

They have more par then the XM 10K's?

Yes. On an ARO ballast the XM 10,000K has 66 ppfd and the Iwasaki has 86 ppfd. That is as much as the coralview reeflux 10,000K does on a 250 watt ballast.

I've been running this bulb for about a month on an Icecap ballast. I really don't see any blue in the color like others have said, just really white.

I upgraded to this setup from a 150w DE Pheonix 14k, and the growth difference is amazing.

I just fired mine up a few days ago. To me it looks quite green, I was kind of disappointed. I'm hoping in a week or two it will burn in an look more blue or white.

If you go to Sanjay's web site and plug in your bulb/ballast combo it will tell you what color it should end up being.

What kind of ballast are you running DrBDC? Also how long would you say it took to completely burn in and get the final color?

Greg, it did look pretty yellow to me at first, but within a few weeks, I guess it burned in and I got more used to the color.

I'm on an ARO electronic ballast which on my XM10,000K's it comes to 11,342K at 69 ppfd. With the Iwasaki I get 86 ppfd and 13,794K. I just plugged in the numbers so I was a little off earlier in the thread.

I replaced my XM10ks with the Iwasakis and would never go back. The XMs had a slight purple/yellow tint, the Iwasaki a slight blue tint. Way nicer IMO. If you look at the spectrum graphs of both bulbs, the XM has more purple and UV, the Iwasaki has a big blue spike. Up high under the XMs I burnt corals by moving them up too high right underneath the bulb, I think possibly due to the amount of UV.

Is this bulb has more par than 250 w 10K? Where I can find that info?
