Hi All,
I am thinking about adding Xenia to my tank. I really want to get some advice prior to starting because I don't want to flush money down the toliet! Here are my tank specifics.
46 gallon corner bow,
Coralife Super Skimmer 65
Magnum 350 filter
Power head
My Lighting is low, Just 15 watts
Current Fish:
Lemon Peel Angel
Scopas Tang
Maroon Clown
Royal Gramma
Cleaner Shrimp
Camel Back Shrimp

Can I keep Xenia in this environment? If not, can I keep some other type of soft coral? I would really appreciate any advice that could be offered. I dont want to kill it or it just be expensive fish food!

thanks
Jeff

After having two different Lemonpeel Angels and watching both of them nip / tear / eat our soft corals (didn't touch a single LPS), I'd be skeptical about keeping Xenia with one. I'll admit, when we first got a Lemonpeel, I thought as long as I provided enough other food it (including a constant supply of nori), it wouldn't bother our corals. I was wrong. JME, FWIW.

Thanks for the info. Are there any other opinions out there? If Xenia is a bad choice, what other coral options do I have given my setup? I have kept fish a long time but do not know much about corals.

IMO, you're going to need to address your lighting situation first. I don't think any coral (except maybe sun coral) is going to thrive with only 15w of light...

Upgrade the lighting and do some more research as well. Check the area for a local reef club.

Not only can you get good advice, but you can probably get some xenia or other starter softie frags for free.
