View Full Version : Color shift is not always the bulb's fault

I never gave this any thought as I was under the impression that when color shift occurred, it was due to an aging bulb. I replaced three bulbs and one ballast (replaced a Howard Industries ballast used by PFO with the equivalent from Advance). I shuffled the bulbs around and the one on the new ballast was always the only one that produced the spectrum that it should. The old PFO ballast (5,000 hours) looks like it doesn't have what it takes any more. Maybe everyone else already knows this, but you can't always blame the bulb for a color shift.http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/580/23213Spectrum_New_v_Old_082206-med.jpg
