hey all, i've let corraline build up on the sides of my 58 gallon for the past few months, but after I reaquascaped last weekend, i want to remove it. i've already tried scraping with a razor blade, that works fine.

my question is this, if i scrape it all off at once, will that bother anything, or mess up any water parameters? i see i have two options... scrape off all of it, let some settle, and the rest get sucked up into the overflow/sump... or i can turn off all my pumps, and net out as much as i can while i'm scraping it off.

i'm just not sure, i want to get it off, so i can see in the sides again, but i don't want to mess anything up. the tank has been up since february and is very stable.

I wouldn't worry about it. Coraline is a good thing and scraping some off can't hurt. If you have a good amount of coraline, scraping may seed other areas in your tank. I loved coraline the first year of reefing, but now it is a bit of a problem and I scrape regularly.

My urchins are starting to take away too much though. They leave white vacant areas on my rock.
