I'm using an American Marine Pinpoint Salinity Monitor on a relatively new setup. The salinity monitor is in the intake section of my sump (ie receiving from the overflow). The readings can vary from 41 while the pump is running to 53 a few minutes after the pump is turned off. I'm curious as to the more reliable reading and the reason for the variation. I presume that the most reliable reading is when the pump is turned off as one does not calibrate the meter with any sort of current. Microbubbles also make a difference in the reading, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Would not have expected this variation and would like to understand why.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Neal
