Question about lights?

I was looking at the deal on your website for the MH retro-fit systems.
I am interested in the 250Watt ones. What would be the differences between a SE (HQI) and a DE(Mogul Base) .. I know there is a couple dollars difference but when would someone use one kind over the other and vice-versa?

Hi jjmatti,

The determining factor between a 250W SE retro and a 250W DE retro would be the available space you have. In larger tanks where space isn’t a concern SE is probably the way to go. When you don’t have much space to work with we’d recommend DE. Additionally, it is much easier to add supplemental lighting around the DE reflectors than it is with the SE parabolic reflectors. So keep that in mind.

ok, so there is no actual benefit other then space saving design. I was thinking that one might produce a different reflection, or something, or put our a wider beam or something..
