I am trying to understand how it works. I just can not picture it in my mind. I do not have a closed loop and my tank is a 65gl reef. Any help would be cool. Thanks

my scwd is attached to my return pump(could be on cl aswell). the scwd alternates back and forth as the water passes through it to alternate the currents in the tank. The switching speed depends on how much flow you have through it. Look on nano-reef.com and search for scwd video and theres a demonstration. hope this helps. chris

I have one on my return to my 55. i use a mag12 return thats split part tot he fuge the rest to the tank. the SQWD cuts down on a lot of flow. it really doesn't do much on my tank. I guess it's ok for the price.

it works off of water presure. the flow of water spins the insides (technical term) and it changes the output from one side to the next.

thats about all I know.

I have two of them running on my 125. they do cut down on the flow a bit but all in all I am happy with them.

Go OM....scwd's are the worst invention to ever hit this hobby...ok maybe not, but still an OM is way better.

I have used a scwd with no problems. For the price you cant beat it.
