I've heard the site ballastwise.com mentioned before for cheap ballasts and it does have some pretty cheap ballasts. I'm looking to get a ballast to run three 24" T5's and THIS (http://ballastwise.com/item.asp?PID=17&FID=15&level=1) ballast looks awefully tempting at $13 as opposed to say an icecap for over $100. Is there anything I'm missing or any reason I should buy the expensive aquarium-brand ballasts over this? Thanks!

That is an interesting site. I can't believe their price on a 250 watt mh electronic ballast.

I bought a 4x54W T5 ballast from them. I never got around to installing it. I'll use it on the new tank.

I use ballastwise ballasts. They work GREAT. My only complaint is that they get kinda hot when they are running, but if you have a fan on them your fine (you should have a fan in there anyways). I dont know how long they last because mine have only been running month. Hope this helps.

I guess I'll give it a shot and buy the one that I linked to. However... I just realized that it doesn't mention "HO" (for high output I guess) anywhere, like some of the T5 ballasts do. Is this a bad thing?

Its probably not rated for running HO lamps then... But if you match up the watts right it should run them fine :)
