you cannot tell what's in the water without analyzing it...it could have lawn chemical runoff, iron, silicate, anything that is in the ground could be found in concentration in well water...absolutely ro at the minimum...lots of colleges offer testing of such things

Yes, RO/DI for the reasons rob has stated.

so with pure RO water, just adding the salt will give me all the nutrition i need? do i have to suppliment anything else?

If the tank has many corals or coralline algae, you'll like need to supplement calcium and alkalinity, and perhaps magnesium from time to time. This article is a good place to get started:

the tds of well water can be all over the board
but yet taste great and be crystal clear.

in 10 years of drilling wells you would be supprised of the kind of water that you get.

[i had yellow water once that was so bad i put my finger in it and gave it a taste and my tongue tingled for a day after lol]

Isn't yellow water like yellow snow?? best left alone... ;)

my well water tests at 400-430 ppm on my TDS meter--

I would not be without RO/DI at my house.
