I rearranged some of my rock to help with flow and on one of the rocks, there is what appears to be red corraline algae. I have really only seen pink and purple and am thus wondering if indeed, this is coralline algae or something I should worry about. It looks just like coralline and is encrusting the rock.

Found what looks to be a pencil urchin as well. Are those reef safe?

Thx for the help.

Yes there is red Coralline. I have some spots in my tank. As for the Urchin it might become a problem down the road. It will feed at night on algae and smaller inverts. It could start to eat corals also. HTH

Red plating coralline is the "best" form to have. Will actually form bonds between rocks like on the reef if you leave it long enough. Consider yourself lucky to have it. Looks nice too when it breaks up purples and pinks.
