I got this guy on some new LR. It has the yellow stripe like a bumblebee - but all of the bumblebee pics show a lot of stripes.... any ideas?

There are so many snails that it's difficult to know what you've got. You really need a snail expert for this one.

I was hoping to find one here - or at least someone who has these in their tank so I know if I can put it in my reef tank;)

you would need two pics to accurately id ... one of the shell (like you have) and one of the opening where the snail comes out ... i won't be able to id it, but with those two pics a snail expert could.

its a bumblebee snail (90 percent sure). Some have more strips than others

should I toss him then? I've read that they prey on other snails and some corals. Does anyone here actually have experience with Bumblebee Snails?

Bumblebee snails are predatory on small animals in the sand. I'd likely just watch this snail, although it could be harmful.

It was a tough call, but I didn't want to take any chances so he's on his way to snail heaven;)

If a snail kills anything in your tanks, it pobably deserves to die. It's a "SNAIL". I have a couple in my tank and they haven't kill anything. Just a scavenger...

It does look like a bumblebee snail. The only ones I have ever seen have more stripes, not just the one yellow stripe in the pic.
I have about 9 bumblebee snails and I have never seen them bother anything. They never get in the sand or try to burrow, they stay on the rocks. From what I understand, if you get the ones that do get in the sand, they are the evil ones.
