My old lighting went out this morning (4x40w NO) so I had to buy a hood and hook up a URI A4 ballast I was saving for another project. Right now I have the ballast running 3 URI Actinic Whites (all are 40w except one is 110w) and 1 Phillips actinic (40w). Is this ok until I can get all 110w bulbs? I would think w/ the safety features Ice Cap puts into their ballasts this scheme wouldn't work unless it's ok. Anyone would to help ease my anxiety? TIA.

Yes, it is OK. It will overdrive the bulbs. The only drawback is that the bulbs will not last as long.

Yea, I figured it would kill the lifespan of the bulbs but hopefully this is a temporary situation. I am going to try and get some new 110w bulbs this week. Thanks for the response.

On a side note (I'm going to hijack my own thread), how do you feel about the 9/11 movie coming out? Being NYPD (you guys/gals were awsome btw) I figure you probably have some pretty strong emotions one way or the other.
