Before I knew better I bought a 500watt Finnex titanium heater (instead of 2 x 250 watt) and the Finnex controller. Worked well. Then I bought an Aquacontroller II and set the Finnex controller to 80 degrees and then plugged it into an X-10 controller -> Aquacontroller II. I was using the Finnex controller as a safety incase the X-10 unit failed so that the heater would not go past 80 degrees. I believe the Finnex controller does not like being randomely turned on by X-10 units because I have now gone through 2 of them. So now I have a 500 watt Finnex Titanium heater and an Aquacontroller II for a 200 gallon system. Any suggestions on a more reliable system. Tired of going through Finnex controllers. Thanks for any help!!

Just bypass the Finnex controller. I had my Finnex controller connected to my AC jr also for the same reason, and the Finnex controller broke. Just plug the Finnex heater directly to the DC 8 if you have one, and your Neptune will control it.

Yeah thats the problem. I just have been using the X-10 equipment. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy a DC 8.

Yeh, the DC 8 paired with the aquacontroller is great. I've got mine controlling my lights, heater, fans, chiller, and ca reactor.

Good Choice...THe DC-4's & DC-8's work great, the X-10's are not that reliable....IME

I recently just bought the finnex heater and connected to my Reefkeeper2 and it does the same type thing. It doesn;t like being turned on and off.
