feeding tangs

i have a yellow tang and have read about people feeding them vegetables or stuff u can get at the grocery store but cant remember what exactly. Anyone have suggestions for stuff i can feed it from the grocery store like idk lettuce or nori for example.

They can eat romaine lettuce or nori. Mine seems to love seaweed salad which is fairly inexpensive and can be bought at any LFS. Romaine can get expensive and it goes bad after a while unlike the seaweed salad.

Yes it is, I get mine at the asain grocery store..

Just make sure you get the natural kind not the flavored stuff ...

I feed mine romaine letteuce and brocclli and the nori, which is sushi rolls from the grocery store in the shusi section. I also feed the spurlina flakes

I feed a mixed variety mainly of Nori, brine/mysis shrimp, Formula II flakes to my Yellow Tang.

My yellow tang eats purple seaweed only, so try a little bit of everything.

I recently found out that nori is not seaweed, but pressed algae. The ones in the asian stores are fine. I've heard that some people use the roasted variety. My tang loves it.

After reading the above, I have a few questions about feeding veggies to tangs. Anybody have insight?

1. How exactly to you feed fish brocelli. It's floats so strong, goes over the overflow and/or fish won't pick at it on surface.

2. What are "spurlina flakes"?

3. Roasted nori???

4. How often do you brew up and feed live brine shrimp to your tang(s)?

Mine liked broccoli also better than nori even.
You have to freeze it first to break the glucose up. I just kept some in the freezer for mine. This also works for romaine but my tangs never really liked that.

You can get a cheap lettuce clip at an aquarium store for feeding veggies and nori. Sometimes the fish are afraid of it at first but get used to it. It has a suction cup that sticks to the glass.

Spiralina flakes are algae flake food which is another good thing to feed them. I always add some spiralina to my regular flake food.

It's best to feed a variety of all. Mine always loved caulerpa to.

I feed my tangs the "roasted seaweed" available at Wal Mart. Roasted just means it was dried out in an oven.

hang a roch in your tank with fishing line wrap a rubberband around it to hold the seaweed on it the fish will love it
