Im sure i could look it up cause i forgot how much they do but i had a question about how much flow i have in my tank anyways.

In my system i have 2 mj 1200's a 900 and also i have a tetratec500 filter that says it does 500 gph(im getting rid of it soon as i get my sump goin) also i have a aqua c skimmer with a mj 1200 running it.

So my question is how much flow do i have and how many times is my tank turning over? I can do the math but i dont know if you add the skimmer and the tetratec in with the figures or just the powerheads.

With all that i have in there im not happy with the flow and want to figure out something else. Oh and my tank is just a 55 gallon

Thanks, Tim

Don't count the skimmer. Simply add the GPH from each MJ (top of my head: 1200 = 385, 900 = 340) together. You have about 15x turnover which is good.

Actually The 1200 pushes 295 GPH
The 900 pushes 260 GPH

295 GPH and 230 GPH. They used to say 292 GPH, I wonder when they changed it?

So i have 820 gph for flow right now which is 15x turnover like you said earlier. Thats not enough for what i want and already have. How much flow do them tunze and seio powerheads have? Maybe ill get some of them and get rid of the maxijets. Well whats really needed for flow in a 55 with sps's in the tank?

I am at 37x turnover in my 100G right now and will soon be swapping the Seio 820 and 1100 out for two new Tunze Nano Streams which are pre ordered. You would be happy with 2 Seio 820s or 1100s in that tank.

Sounds like a plan ill get the two of the 820's. What ill do is take out the 1200s. There in the top corners of the tank and put the seios in their place. Just point them the same way towards the front of the tank i guess. Ill proabably just have to play with them to find what i like best. Ill keep the mj 900 in the bottom right corner behind my rocks i kinda like it back there if i can ever keep it from falling and blowing my sand everywhere.

So lets see thats 1870 gph which is 34x turn over. That seems like alot wont my fish get stressed out with all that new current But i need that for the sps's i already have and soon to get

Thanks Tim
