This is a 30G HEX 30$ petco special ;) which will be a reef with everything but SPS. The first two pictures were how it was before I fixed it. I don't know if I like the outcome though. Also the price tag will come off and the glass needs cleaning:) Comments and criticism is appreciated thanks.

I had this same tank as my first saltwater tank, it was handed to me after my fiancee's stepfather couldnt keep FW fish going in it. The aquascaping looks good. What I did with mine was make column of LR in the center so the fish could swim in a circle around it. I also upgraded to a coralife light, with an open top and a HOB filter that was turned into fuge. Good luck!! Mine ran for about 6 months, with 2 blue green chromis, 2 chaulk basslets, and one twinspot goby. Looks good so far. Jon

Ok thanks for the nice comments :) I tried stacking it up in the middle but I gave up because it kept falling down, so I just stacked it up against the back glass. Now are there any things I should do to improve it?? I am going to get some corals soon, I used the rock and sand from my other tank, so I don't think it will really cycle.

Nice looks good just make sure you get flow around your rock so you dont have algae problems. Here is mine ,liked the 360 viewing. Hope yours does well.

Wow very nice tank you have there, what lights are you running on it and also what do you use for filtration? The only reason I piled my rock up high is so I can get LPS without running super wattage bulbs.

Don't worry I will ;) although some of what you see are bubbles, the only filter I have in there is one of those whisper filters for a 20G tank with foam in it. It works though. I am trying to do this the cheapest way possible. As for the lighting I told the guy at the fish store my nano cube ballast broke since they replace them for free. I told him twice and I am working on one more time that way I will have three 24W lights. I don't think I would reccomend doing it though:rolleyes:

I had a 120w pc 50/50 light, hard to find a good light that would fit so I got a diy set up and built a canopy. My filter was a fluval 404 and a 100gall skimmer. Got a 240gall now:D

if you can try to make a vertical pillar in the center of the tank, keeping all the rock off the glass. let it touch NO GLASS. make it cone shaped so its wide at the bottom to a point at top. that tank is nice cuz it can be veiwable from all sides. this is why i suggest a cone pillar with no rocks touching any glass! makes for easy cleaning of all the glass as well. just peg the rocks with pvc or acylic dowels, by drilling holes into the rock with a masonry bit.

I tried that and it came down like an avalanche, plus its, sitting on a table in the basement so no one is going to stick their head in the back. I kind of wish I had a stand so I can pull it away from the wall and have a 360 degree view.

Looks great!!!

My only concern is the stability of it. Looks like it would be easy to crumble. Remember that once the corals get larger and extend out from the LR, they start to put leverage on the rocks. If you epoxy it together, it will be great.

Thanks again for the comments, actually it is very secure but I am going to make certain before I put the corals in. I will bump it a little to make sure it holds up. I didn't have a lot of rock to work with, so I tried to make big gaps so I could get the wall higher.

You can also use your corals to "tie" together pieces...they will eventually encrust pieces together if you place them in bewteen some of the junctures in the rock.

Yeah, looks perilous.. you might want to finalize the structure with either marine epoxy or the dowel method. Would be kind of tragic to come home some day to an avalanch of corals... Better stay away from some of the stronger inverts/snails...

Thanks, the only thing I have is three small hermit crabs, I don't really do snails, they always die on me. So I think the three hermts will be enough.
