My tank is finally about 6 months old i have waited very patiently and now i want to ge my first coral. I would like to know what is a good hardy one that woudl be good for my first one. I have a 55g with nova extreme with 4/54w t5s, 2 daytime 10k and two actinics

It's really up to you with that lighting. Just make sure that your water parameters, especially Alkalinity and Calcium, are good. If you want fast growing, hardy stuff I would suggest things like Green Star Polyps, Xenia, Kenya Tree, etc. If you want a little more beauty but still want stuff to move, then I would try some LPS like Euphyllias (Torch, Hammer, Frogspawn, etc). I would wait just a little while on any SPS until you have a little more experience keeping corals under your belt. Also, you can't forget Corallimorphians and Zoanthidaes. Nothing like a bunch of Ricordea yuma to get the Ooo's and Aaah's from onlookers.

Mushrooms and leathers are a good place to start. A nice yellow leather will really brighten up a tank.
