In the past Turf Algae meant pulling the rock and trying to pull it off by hand for me. The algae I'm talking about is the very short green stuff that is almost impossible to pull off by hand. Can't find a snail, crab or fish that really likes the stuff.
Today while in my garage getting my bucket for a water change I saw my battery terminal cleaner that I've never used. It's the hard bristly christmas tree shaped thing!
Decided to pull a rock while doing a water change to see if it would clean the turf.
Worked like a charm. Of course it also worked over the purple algae too but that should grow back faster then the turf. The turf is now short enough (if not gone complet) that a snail might just clean up the rest.
