Hey guys sorry for the question to be so open.

Basically im looking for the top 3 performing skimmers for a 150 gallon reeftank.

I know its always about personal preference but has there been any independent studies on skimmers ?

My Aquamedic has had too many problems its now come to a point where its basically shorting out all the time.

Im running skimmerless !! But yeh in terms of how much skimmate i was getting with my Turbo Flotor doesnt really make much difference.

Haha soon i graduate and start working as an accountant. I dunno if its a good thing or a bad thing with the extra money available lol .

Im aiming to upgrade to Metal Halides, get a new skimmer , a bigger sump/fuge hybrid and a calcium reactor.

Just asking round for whats a good replacement ?

while I only have a 40 gallon system, I am a big fan of my AquaC remora pro. It is only rated for tanks up to 110 but AquaC has much nice skimmers with their EV series. here is the link : http://www.proteinskimmer.com/
I say always go with the biggest skimmer you can afford... fit in you sump. I dont know if there is a "best" skimmer but when the argument comes up, AquaC normally gets alot of representation

What brands can you get in Sydney? Deltec or H&S are top brands. For a 150G, a skimmer with a single Eheim 1260 would be good.

ASM and Euro-Reef are also worth considering, in my opinion.

im a euro man. recirculating seems to be a big hit especially on the wallet. just kidding.
i would go with the rc 180
or if you want to go over kill either the rc250 or then your into Deltec money.
thens thiers the bubble king as well. now that is a awesome skimmer but starts at 2 grand for your size aquarium

I run a H&S 200-1260 on my 110. It should be able to handle a 150 with almost any bioload. Deltec makes a comparable skimmer with their AP701, but it is a couple hundred more. BubbleKing is truly the best, but you can expect to pay $2000+ and wait a few months while it is hand made for you.
