I have a 90 gallon reef tank. I am currently running pc's and t5's. I just bought a used mh setup as follows (icecap 250w electronic ballast, mogul socket and reflector, and a 6 month old 10000k 250w bulb) I know I need to replace the bulb just trying to decide the best for my softies and zoanthids. I am going to place a one end of my tank. the other end will be for corals that take less light.

All opinions welcome

i would get a 12k reeflux bulb or 14k aquaconnect if you like it a bit bluer. I would keep the t'5s and get rid of the pc;s

what type and # of t5 bulbs are you currently running?

I like the Hamilton 14k bulbs for my soft corals and zoanthids.

I strongly recommend 14K bulbs. You get the best of both worlds. Not too washed out and not too blue. I have used several different brands and haven't seen too much of a difference in my tank. I currently use Radium bulbs. Check out this sight and click on the 250W Metal Halide Testing link to see what this persons tank looked like under different types of bulbs.
