I just recently bought 2 24" TEK T5 retrofit kits from reefgeek and now have all this mounted in a hood and was not planning on using a fan on anything since the bulbs to not appear to run hot, but it does seem the ballast at the tend of the day is hot enough to burn your finger.

I was wondering if other people using these ballast see this and do they run a fan to cool this or do they put heatsinks on the ballast or are they ok to run hot without doing anything. I am thinking of maybe mounting sheet metal underneath the ballast to help distribute heat and to make sure the wood is not getting to hot. I would really like to not mount a fan just because of space and noise requirements I have. (but of course I don't want my house to burn down either :) ) Let me know your thoughts?
