So I bought the Seaclear Acrylic Scratch Remover online from petsmart. Box looked fine, opened it up and was dismayed at the condition of the contents. It comes in two bottles, one labeled #1 with a sticker barely stuck on and the bottle dented in even after cap is released and the other one labeled #2 in permanent marker. The contents of #1 was chunky no matter how much I shaked it. The cap also looks like somebody with greasy hands touched it. The kit also came with two tiny pieces of sandpaper. So my question is...is this the way it is put together from the manufacturer or was it tampered with/used and returned. If it is manufactured that way, I have to say it is packaged very amateurish. I called petsmart to see if it is supposed to be like this and the lady knew nothing but agreed to send me another free of charge. We'll see how that one is. Does anyone have any experience with this product. Here are some pics.

I bought an acrylic tank that was a return at the distributor I worked for. Some goofball cleaned it with a razor blade. It was trashed. I fixed it with that very stuff, it looks brand new. No it doesn't come that way.

That kit certianly looks used to me :mad2: Glad they are sending you a new one free of charge.

I have also been toying with the idea of removing a few hair line scratches inside my display tank. I cant use polishing / buffing solutions as the tank is full. I can only use the sand paper. I am worried about once I buff the scratch with the sandpaper is this going to blurr the surrounding area. I started a thread in the DIY (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=914792) section. You may want to take a look at the suggestion that were given to me.

I am curious how your Sea Clear kit works for you and if you are able to get all your scratches out without blurring the sourding areas. I just dont want to ruin the viewing pane in my tank for a few scratches that are only noticeable when your eyes are glued to it.. (which mine are all the time) :eek1:

Yeah, I had a feeling it wasn't supposed to come this way. I'm thinking somebody used it and returned it and someone at petsmart thought I would be an oky doke and accept it, I dunno. I was happy to finally receive it today and was anxious to see if it could remove a few minor scratches on my tank. I guess I'll have to wait for the second kit as I'm afraid to use this one. Also, is it supposed to come with more than those two tiny pieces of sandpaper.
