Hi I am new to the sight and wanted to intrados my self to all of you here at Reef Central.
My name is Ray I live in Maine I am any Auto Tech so I don't have a lot of money but I love the hobby. I have 1001 problems already. Witch I will get to in another post. But this is what I have and what my master plain is.

I have a 55 gallon tank with

60lbs of live sand
60lbs of live rock
2 Rio power heads 600 and a 800
200 watt heater
Coralife Lunar Aqualight 4x65
and 2 hang on filters Aqua Clear 110 and a Aqua Clear 50

I don't have the room for a sump but I would like to and a Protein Skimmer.

The Coralife Super Skimmer 220 is the one I have been looking at.

Master plain
load 55 gallon tank with as much live rock as possible so the WIFE won't get to ugly when I HAVE TO BUY a bigger tank. I mean she won't want me to waste all that money on rocks.Just to have them all die because the tank is to small.;)

for a tank that size, a protein skimmer is really as close to a necesity as you can get.

What brand of test kit is best? I am currently using Sera kits.

Check the Used Equipment and Drygoods forum for used skimmers and lights. Lots of them are usually available as someone upgrades their system.

I've heard lots of people like salifert test kits, but they can be pricey.
