neice came back from the shore with lots of pretty sea shells and such. if i boil these and let them soak for a couple of days should they be ok to put in my fowlr tank? she would love to put them in but i want to make sure if its ok and what steps do I have to do to clean them?

to be sure I'd soak them in weak bleach solution for a day, rinse them well, then boil them, rinse again, then let it dry. Darn, I sound like a germophobic :)

I agree. Never can be too safe about what you put in the tank. There are many environmental pollutants that could be on the shell that would be bad for the tank.

I would not take it as far a TeKCat, just wash put them in boiling water until they look clean.

i agree too. i have taken dead rocks from teh beach to save on the price of live rock and all i did was boil them in ro water and they were completely fine. :-)
