I currently have the coralife 96x2 PC fixture which I have been pretty happy with. However I would like to upgrade and broaden what I can hold in my tank. I have been looking at the TEK T5 6x39 and wondering what your opinions were on this fixture. Also if their is something better please let me know.

I run this fixture, you just have to be careful with your low light corals as you'll nuke / bleach out your shrooms, lps, just about everything if you're not very very careful during the upgrade.

I'd like to go with a complete light unit as a do not have a canopy.

wow. from 2 x 92watt to 6 x 39watt? that's a huge jump. your tank is going to look like night and day. :)

the only thing drawback i can see is that you have a bowfront, which might mean that the 6 bulb unit will be too wide.

You are correct that light is 15" wide and I only have about 12.5" to work with. Back to the drawing board. The more I think about it I think its time to go with a bigger tank anyway, maybe a 90G.

I have the 4x39 Tek T5 on my 46 gallon bowfront, and I've been very happy with it. Even though it's less wattage than a 2x96 PC, I think you actually get quite a bit more light out of it. I haven't tried any SPS yet, but my BTA and LPS corals (Turbinaria, Trachyphyllia, Euphyllia and Favites) have been doing great.

You may want to check out this thread if you haven't already: T5 Q&A (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=878433) . The Grim Reefer is pretty much the T5 guru around here, so you may want to ask him about going with T5 vs. metal halide. He'll most likely be prejudiced towards T5, but he's done a good amount of research, so he'll be able to tell you the benefits as well.

I ordered a Odyssea 36" light system 3 days ago. It is a upgraded (2007 Version) system that rectified problems in the last version. BIG TIME bang for your buck. 1x175W HQI, 2x65W CF, and 3xBluemoon LED

Odyssea 36" MH, CF combo (http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=277)

I ordered it three days ago and right now it's already out of stock.
I kept calling them and ordered it the minute the stock registered online. Hope it helps.

Remember, if you want the quality of a Coralife Pro setup, you have to pay for it. :)
