getting shrooms to prop themselves...

i am experienced in the "easy" way to prop (i.e. cutting and letting the pieces heal into new shrooms)

but is there a way to promote them splitting on their own? my 2 large shrooms (originally one i cut in half) have produced a total of 1 baby shroom between them in a 1 year period... i would much rather the shrooms spread across the rocks they are attached to rather than having to attach cuttings to tiny rocks and hoping that i can huddle the rocks together to create a shroom garden...

any ideas?

Maybe place the rock they are on in an undesirable location. When they "crawl" away to another suitable spot, they will hopefully leave smaller shrooms.

I set a small piece of live rock on top of the colony. The mushrooms will crawl onto the new rock and then just remove the rock.
