Anyone Use A Algae Scrubber Filter

Thinking about trying it out....anyone use one? did you buy it or was it DIY?

I use one on my 90 gal

I like it... I don't love it.

When I upgrade my tank ( to a 180 ) I don't think I'll use another one. i think I'd rather use the sump space for a large refugium, ca reactor and a giant skimmer.

But, for what it is I think it does a fine job. Nitrate 0 Phosphate 0 SG 1.024 pH 8.0 Ca 390pm Alk 8dkh.

I do a 10% water change every month and use a small deltec skimmer along with it.

I don't run ozone or carbon. I only dose Ca/Alk 2part every other day or so. No trace elements or food other than what the fish get.

A local club member uses them on his tanks.

200-500 gallon system. He has two different styles... dump box where the water dumps over the plate... and a "seasaw" type where a tray pivots back and forth alternatly wetting each side.

He loves them... and the tanks are beautiful. He skims and does very little in the way of water changes.
