I know the threads are annoying, but I'm just curious if there is anyone from the Upper Peninsula? Over the years I'm thinking I'm the only one!! Would be nice to know some other fellow U.P. reefers when it comes to making a haul down south for stuff!!

go to the "reef club forums"...its the 3rd from the bottom on the forum list. Then look for one thats closest to you. Chances are, theres someone much closer than you think! who knows, maybe 2 houses down ;) (this actually happened to me lol..now the other neighbors are probably wondering what all the little bags with water are...not to meantion the big powerfull light fixtuers...they prolly think we're growin marry jane or somethin :) )

Thats cool! I just seen Houghton, and most people that were there for a couple years either got sick of the white stuff or were in college and moved on....:D

I left northern Mi about 2-1/2 years ago. Not the U.P., but close. I did spend a lot of weekends in Newberry, Houghton, Marquette, the Sault and some other small towns. Lived 45 minutes below the bridge on the east and west side of the "Tip O' the Mitt".

I'm originally from Escanaba. I've been in Green Bay for 6 years. Pet Place in Escanaba (across from the DOT building on 3rd Avenue North) has a limited salt selection.

Otherwise, it'd be well worth the two hour drive to Aquatic Imports here in Green Bay. They have a large selection of both fish and corals. All healthy and well maintained, too. They get new shipments in at least twice a week.

Im origionally from Ontonagon (19yrs) but now reside in Tn. Dont miss the harsh winters much but do miss the hunting and fishing. Would go back if the economy would pick up some.

I also lived in Esky for a couple years... not a bad town!!
We usually head to the Green Bay area to check out the LFS... Still haven't been to Aquatic Imports... the next trip.... Otherwise,, Pet Place, been there a few times...

Ya, not much for jobs around here... and yes winter is on its way! (not too happy about that!)

Those of you in the Western area should look into info about Dr. Fosters and Smiths, I believe it is in RHinelander WI. They had a tour and open house not too long ago.

Hey there! Another Yooper checking in... I'm from Skandia (Marquette).

You always see people talking about their local reef clubs and such, and I always thought I was the only person in the good ol' UP into saltwater! LOL

Good!! Keep them coming!! Nice to start hearing from some U.P. Reefers!!!

I've been debating the idea of starting a reef/marine aquarium club.. maybe this spring,, we'll see how things are going by then, but I have been looking into it!!! As far as I know there are none around,, well at least none in the southern U.P.

Just wanted to say ya to da U.P. If I become independantly wealthy, I'm moving up and bringing my tank. With global warming and water scarcity on the horizon, I can't think of a better place to be than near Gitchigumi.
