Does anyone know what this is? It appear to me to be some kind of anemone. They (about 9) move occasionally but seem to cause no damage of any kind. They have an anemone like foot.

nudi maybe. Notice any damage to corals? If it has been in the tank for two years and none of your corals have been munched on don't worry about it. Now if you have had corals that appear stressed or even die that may be your culprit tho the shrooms seem pretty happy!

If its been in the tank for 2 years and you have no signs of damage to anything, than leave em. They look cool, wish I had one in my tank;)
Is it possible to get a pic of the foot or close to the foot of one?
Those red/purple shrooms look really nice also.

Nudi for sure. Looks very similar to one that I saw that fed on Xenia. Never touched the plain regular xenia it was going after the silver xenia.

Great picture by the way.

I had a really cool anemone once that looked like that. Unfortunately I lost it in my tank crash. Never did get a id on it.

I thought Nudi too, but its got such a long and anemone-like foot. They rarely move too, whereas I've always thought that nudis move slowly, but quite constantly.

I love them, I reckon they're great. I think they eat algae. It could be something undiscovered before, I'm looking through all the books but can't find anything like it.

A nudi would move more than occasionally, and would clearly have a front and rear end!
Whatever it is, it looks cool.

One way to tell the difference if it is a nudi or not is if the foot is elongated or it is more round. It looks like a particular nudi that feeds on star polyps. They usually become very active at night and in the morning. Did you have star polyps in your tank at one time or have them in there now?

No star polyps. When I get a chance I'll try some. Thanks.

If it is a nudi and DOES eat star polyps let me know if you would be interested in selling one of them. Thanks.
