Dont take my word for it but I have never acclimated any snail or invert I have ever put in my tank. If your copper level is 0.0 then you should have no problem just tossing them in. I however NEVER put any of the water from the bag in to my tank. I just reach in grab the lil guys and drop em in on a rock or sand at bottom of tank (right side up of course) Never lost a snail yet... *Knock on Wood* :D

If the snails come in water, yes the same as fish or other inverts, slowly drip them or add a small amount of water every 10 minutes. If they come in a damp towel or newspaper I hold them above the water line in the tank till they attach and allow them to acclimate themselves.

I tried to acclimate my snails one time.... they were crawling out of the bag faster than anything. Gave up on it and scooped them out and threw them in. They are still alive,.

Do the drip method and let the volume of the bag water at least double. About 1-2 drips per second. Or temp acclimate for 15 minutes then add 1/2 cup water every 7 minutes or so until the bag water has at least doubled.

as with anything live that you put into your tank.....unless you got extra $$$$ to throw around.

What bull biscuits! Invertebrates have to be acclimated just as well.

Let the snails dry out in a dish (they'll squeeze out water) for about 10-20 minutes, then attach them ABOVE the water line. They'll crawl into the water on their own.

lol, I just throw mine in, though I do check water parameters of the newly introduced.

Its only the snails I throw in like quarters in a well. No problems for me. At least for now... *** Knocks on wood

LMAO the only time I lose snails is when I see a hermit sport'in its shell like a top hat. :beachbum:

I just toss em in and watch em sink...

Shrimp must be. Crabs need it: shelled creatures can't sweat fast enough to protect their kidney-like organs from damage in the transition between two salinities. And that includes snails. It may survive, but it may not thrive. Next step is mysterious snail deaths, and suspicion falls naturally on the [perfectly innocent] hermit crabs....
