Towel blocking house light from mantis at night?

i have this house light in the kitchen its like a big bright ball 7-8" in diameter and the tank is 15ft away and right in view. could my mantis think this is the sun? and if his lights go out and the "sun" is still on would it mess with him? lately ive been covering him with a dark green towel about hour after his lights go out.
