guys..im starting my cube here soon, its acrylic and i want to go barebottom instead of dsb. question is, do i need starboard on an acrylic tank? i know you need it on glass mostly for protection from rock slides. but, the tank is 3/4 acrylic all the way around, so i dont think rocks will bust it. is there another benefit that im missing?
thanks

Possibility of scratches, but in reality, coralline will cover the bottom anyhow. My acrylic tank is bb, and no starboard. Seemed redundant to me, it's already plastic on the bottom. :D

I have an acrylic BB tank. No starboard here.

Personaly, I had an acrylic tank. The only reason or benefit I would see to going bare bottom is avoiding scratches on the sidewalls due to sand getting inside your cleaning magnet, but I rather take the chance. I had a bb tank and just cannot stand the look of it.

Besides if you go ssb it will avoid the risk.
