What bad things can happen if bulbs are not changed regularly? Will it promote alge growth, or just decrease coral growth? What interval should the lights be changed on?

both. color shifts arent fun....

yea i kept one for 8 months and right around the last month or two i had massive algae growth that i had never had before and coudlnt figure it out until i realized that i run my halide 12 hours a day for 8 months... time for a change...
