I have a spare 33 gallon (i think) tank lying around that measure 48"x12"x12" that I was planning on plumbing into my main tank that will be getting setup here in the very near future. It will be for fragging zoas, mushrooms, and softies. Couple questions.

Ive read it a couple times but wanted to be certain...bare bottom correct?

what lighing would you guys recommend for this tank? I have 230 watts of pc retros that would easily fit over this tank...or are MH required?

If going with PC should I used the dual day light, dual actinic lights or just 6500K and 10K?

If MH is the way to go 150's 175's? I also have read that the "white" spectrum of bulbs are the way to go? Do i need supplemental actinic lights?

Finally...flow. The tank will probably be pushing about 400 gph from the retrun pump. I figure there should be more flow? I have maxijet 900 and 1200 that could easily be added. Would they do alright?

thanks in advance.

You might want to cover the bottom with a thick layer of rubble, so when you frag you just drop it in and it will attach to some rubble. This will hopefully keep it from attaching to the glass also. I would skip the halides for this setup and go with the pc's. Daylight and actinic in each bulb. My softies seem to bleach and hide from my DE 250's 14k phoenix. Plus you will save electricity.

thanks racer...should i be looking for the "normal" amount of flow through this tank?

not sure but im guessing 10-20x flow would be fine.

I think my mushrooms and frogspawn were much happier before i added my seio 1100, they will prob get used to it though.

now that i think about it i would lean more to the 15-20x. 10 seems to low.

thanks again, i think that I am going to go with the return and a 900 once i get it going and see what happens, then i will add/remove how thing look.
