Hello, I have some large base rocks in my tank and a few small rocks covered in coralline. My large base rocks now have a slight tinge of green to them. Is this the first stage of coralline growth? Or is it something worse? My water parameters (including ca, alk and mag) are spot on and the tank is very clean.

1300ppm Mg, along with proper Ca/alk will really get it going.

How long has your tank been up for?

I have seen green coraline, but then again, I think the bad type of green algae is alot more common. My personal opinion on coraline growth is mainly high alk/ca and low nitrates/phosphates, all your going to grow is bad algae with high nitr./phos.

When I put base rock in, it usually gets coated in the lime green stuff then a few weeks later I start seeing the pink/purple stuff take over.
